Winter Work. Spring Surge

This winter, our partner programs didn’t just train—they built something bigger. Across the country, athletes showed up, put in the work, and raised the standard. Now, as we move into spring, that work is turning into real momentum—on the erg, on the water, and within each community.

Highlights Across the Country

This season was defined by growth, leadership, and community-powered moments:

  • Chicago Training Center hosted the largest indoor national championships in partnership with USRowing—bringing together athletes from across the country.

  • North Channel Community Rowing took home the Tiro Cup, with standout performances across the board.

  • Hope on Water successfully hosted their first-ever ergatta, welcoming 10 teams and 112 entries—highlighted by the inaugural Arshay Cooper First Responders Cup.

  • DeMatha Catholic High School is growing strong—two new coaches hired and junior Marcel Otim training with the Uganda National Team, with sights on Junior Worlds.

  • Dominican University Rowing took winter training to the next level with a training trip to Florida, building strength and connection ahead of the spring season.

Across programs, we also saw expanded partnerships, new clubs forming, and increased participation—proof that access continues to grow, one community at a time.

Fast Finishes & Big Performances

The results speak for themselves—this winter, athletes showed up ready:

  • RowLA delivered Top 4 finishes across all 2026 regattas and maintained 100% retention from winter to spring.

  • Chicago Community Sculling athletes all hit personal records at the Tiro Cup, continuing a strong trajectory of growth.

  • Riversport OKC saw an electrifying three-way tie for 1st in the Boys U16 500m at Indoor Nationals.

  • Evanston Township High School is now the fastest it’s ever been, with athletes earning national rankings and medals.

  • Delta Sculling Center saw 7 out of 9 athletes set new PRs, alongside record winter participation.

  • Baltimore Community Rowing athletes placed across multiple events at the Philadelphia City Indoor Classic.

  • XULA Rowing brought home multiple wins across indoor championships and community events, while also earning national recognition.

  • Dallas United Crew athletes swept the podium (Gold, Silver, Bronze) in the middle school category at SWEAT Indoor Regatta.

From first races to national rankings, these performances reflect more than speed—they reflect belief, consistency, and opportunity.

Growth Beyond the Erg

This winter wasn’t just about competition—it was about building futures:

  • Unity Boat Club is experiencing a transformational rebuild, with athletes setting a new cultural standard through discipline and commitment.

  • Detroit Boat Club Crew reached a major milestone by launching a new rowing club within Detroit Public Schools—opening doors for even more young people.

  • Watuppa Rowing Center continues to build a powerful pipeline, with alumna breaking Boston College Womens Crew 2K record!

These moments remind us: when we expand access, we expand what’s possible.

Looking Ahead

What’s built in winter doesn’t stay there—it shows up in every race, every practice, and every new opportunity created.

As we head into spring, one thing is clear:

The momentum is real—and it’s only growing.
